When is the best time to visit Panama?? There isn`t really a best time - the weather is basically beautiful all year. There is less rain in the `summer` months, from December through April, but it is warm all year round. The higher inland elevations have cooler, spring-like weather, and there are micro-climates all over the place. The Azuero Peninsula, for example, is quite dry compared to the rest of the country, which is generally humid. From fresh to hot, there is no end of choices.
I agree with the answer above, the best thing you can do is give yourself enough time to see all that Panama has to offer- there`s so much variety, and so much more than just Panama City. A month is the minimum - I could spend years ferreting out all the awesome nooks and crannies of this little country. Get a bunch of guide books because there are so many `undiscovered` spots still to explore.
As for tourists, there are more and more each year - Panama has worked hard to market itself to the world, and the recent real estate and economic boom have done a lot to raise the country`s profile. That, plus the US currency used there, political stability, and far better infrastructure than popular Costa Rica to the north, have really driven tourism. According to the Panama MInistry of Tourism, there were 1.38 million tourists to Panama in 2008, up 13% since 2007. |
